The Blogging Inspiration
I was recently talking to a friend of mine, Ian Eberle at OmegaWeb.Comand we were talking about success in blogging the other day and it inspired me to write this post.
When you are a beginner, there are just so many things that you really have to do to get your blog noticed online. I think if you really knew all of the things that is required before your blog gets noticed some of you would probably quit!
This is the reason why so many people start a blog, and then 3 months later they usually give up because it’s not working out for them. I get a kick out of reading newbie’s blogs that promote all kinds of things trying to make money when in fact they are not really making the money that they say they are…
So after talking to Ian, I thought I would actually tell you how to be successful in blogging.
Consistency Is King in Blogging
All of the tips below are conclusive only because you make this point your bread and butter. Staying consistent is how you are going to become successful in blogging. Stop looking at the big picture. Stop spending those millions that you are making in your head and focus on today. Today you need to write great content, today you need to share your post on social media, build some backlinks, make some friends, etc.
Consistency is the key. The reason most people don’t get to the big money in blogging is because for 3-6 months they don’t see any results from all of their hard work. Now, let me be the first to tell you that unless you already have a huge following, then your choice of career on the internet is going to be a slow and tedious process before you become successful at blogging.
I see it all the time. You get an idea of a blog, start seeing dollar signs, and then when it doesn’t work out after half a year has gone by you start to slip. Content goes down the drain, and you friends and followers start to miss you on social media sites. Let’s face it, it can be discouraging! Working for free really stinks! Especially in an industry where most of your money can be made in!
One person asked me the trick to making money blogging…consistency is the trick. Put yourself on a schedule right away and stick with it. Some people say that in order to get a great blog and get noticed, you need to blog every day. This is simply not true. You can’t crank out great content every day so stop trying! Now I know that when you first start blogging it’s really exciting and you have so much stuff to say, but hold off on writing it! Or at least save it and don’t publish it right then! Write down a schedule of blogging about 2 times per week. If you can write 4 great posts a week, and you know that you will be able to write great posts like this every week, then, by all means, do it! Just remember, don’t sacrifice your blogs integrity for bad writing. Give something to your readers that can help them every time. If you can’t do that, then don’t. Start a schedule to be consistent and stick with it!
Building relationships with other men and women in your niche is an important factor in becoming successful. The reason you want to do this is that these relationships usually end up helping all of those involved. Usually in the ideas of guest posting, link exchanges, and social shares. staying cooped up in your own little corner is not going to do your site any good. I don’t know anyone that has become successful by themselves. Everyone knows someone! Maybe it’s someone that you usually see commenting at your favorite blog, or maybe you are on the same forum. Whatever it is, reach out to that person as a friend!
Become Engaged in Social Media
Staying “connected” is another important step in getting your blog noticed. There are millions of people that use social media sites every day and you are missing out on a lot of traffic if you are not hooked up to these sites. At least 30 of my subscribers have asked me the best way to get noticed on Twitter. I will cover that here. I use a program that actually tweets for me. This allows me to free up some time to do other things. When you can do this efficiently, then you can get your URL in front of more potential visitors every day. I get a lot of social media traffic every day just from this program called TweetAdder Twitter Manager. I have used a lot of different Twitter tools in the past and this is by far the best one out there. Plus it doesn’t charge you a monthly fee either! Just a one time payment and you’re ready to rock n roll!
The Success Story
I am not the smartest guy online. There are many people that have become more successful than I have. I am not where I want to be and am still growing, but I would like to think that what makes me different from everyone else is that I try to answer ALL of the emails that you send and at least try to help anyone that comes to me with questions. I know that it’s hard to get a really successful bloggers attention with a lowly blogging question(believe me, I’ve tried it)
I know that there is not a lot of points to this blog. But believe it or not, when you are consistent, make friends, and stay connected with social media sites a lot of great things can happen to you. Granted, there are a lot of subpoints to each of these, but when you do this, you are on the road to a successful blog that will help people!
Remember to stay consistent! Consistent with your link building, blog commenting, content writing, making friends, and social media. Consistency is the trick to successful blogs! Time is on your side when it comes to a successful site. Stick with it! Don’t get discouraged! As long as you are doing all of this to your best ability, you will make it!
